Tuesday, November 29th, 2005

Bumped into this accidentally. C’etait un Rendezvous a 1976 short film by
Claude Lelouch. An unknown driver of a Ferrari 275 GTB pulling off a few km/hs
and a couple of red lights on 9 minutes of film.

Inkscape-only Tango Workflow

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

I’ve demoed my typical Tango workflow at the Boston Summit and recently the Installfest in Prague (Video recordings will be hopefully available soonish). I’ve been using GIMP to create the small resolution versions simply because of being used to it. Tuomas
and Andreas have been prefering to create everything in Inkscape. And I have to admit for certain type of icons it’s even faster.

As I’ve blogged about the all-saving SVG solution before, the above image kinda illustrates nicely the different needs for detail and perspective at each size.

Original 0.11

Monday, November 14th, 2005

I’ve released 0.11, at last! It includes some polish and is now localisable. Feel free to mail me your translations. The EXIF view toggle got moved from the php side to the javascript side. The tarball also includes an iPhoto to Original script by Stephen Gerstacker and a new CLI script from Boris de Laage. Note that F-Spot Orginal support is now on par with everythin else as well.

One last release will follow which will introduce an sqlite dependency to deal with the comments, access statistics and a maybe an RSS feed. And then I’ll think about the rewrite. If anyone is eager to maintain original, and is able to host a cvs or svn repository, I’d love to hear from you. Original appears to be useful for a lot of people, but it’s jimmac gluecode which needs some love…

Tag Assignment in F-Spot

Friday, November 11th, 2005

Had to do a screen
capture
of the uber-addictive tagging interface in F-Spot that Nat
worked on
.

I have to say that with all this keyboard navigation (such as
rotation, viewer/browser/fullscreen toggles) F-Spot is a pleasure to use.

Installfest and Blenderconf

Monday, November 7th, 2005

I’ll be giving a demo on the Tango style using Inkscape and GIMP at the Installfest in Prague this Saturday (in czech). The program sounds packed and everyone is welcome to come.

Later that day I’ll be talking about various GIMP techniques at the Prague Blender Conference so feel free to follow me there as well ;) . Contrary to the schedule it will be an hour later so that I can catch my breath too.
