5th Leg, Work in Progress

I screwed up with the proportions and the font is way to strong, but I’m liking the process. You can check out the progress in opensuse-art SVN.

Is there a possibility to change the font, particularly the letter ‘J’? Would you consider making the j a bit like f upside down so that the bottom part looks like the bottom part of the ‘G’?

@ruurd, the font is licensed under the OFL, so you can take it and create a derivative that you like.

Wow, moving fast indeed.
I’d recommend filing in the metadata

Hey,
very fascinating. I know how hard it is. I have also a font project on hackweek. What tools do you use? Probably FontForge and Inkscape.
Good luck to you and always remember to have fun.

Thanks for the tip about Fontmatrix! I didn’t know that. Really useful application.

Nice fonts, but I do have a couple of points:
The o and the s should really sink a tiny bit below the base line. Right now they are probably exactly on it, but this gives the visual impression that they are actually floating a bit above the base line. (This is a pretty well known phenomena btw, and most fonts do account for it)
I don’t really like the bottom part of the c and e. I think it would look better if it were more similar to the bottom part of the s.
And I agree with one of the above posters, I don’t really like the j. Maybe make it just a straight line, that only goes a bit deeper than the i, but without the hook.
Definitely a nice font though, but just some things I think would improve it a bit:)

@Lieven: Thanks for the good feedback. Agree with everything but the j. He’re how it might look like with more geometric c and e (and with CAPS):
View the image if you’d like more res (800×800px). Or grab a PDF preview. Wonder if I get flamed for the serif on the l. I want the I and l to look distinct, but not sure this is the right way :/. Not happy with Q and W. B has odd proportions too.

Added lower case numerals today, may change my mind in future. Simplified the capitals.
