It worked out really well for the blender folks. I’m amazed by the number of great submissions for the new blender splash. In the past GIMP splash submissions were mostly of rather poor quality.
Not sure if this changes the situation at all, but at least it’s something to give everyone a starting point. Go ahead, make some nice splashes so that there’s some choice for 2.2.
