MicroMV under Linux
Apr 20 2005
For everyone stuck with a Sony’s MicroMV format, I have bumped into something that’s close to being a consumer capture proggy, although still CLI. All you need to do is run it and you’re left with a number of MPEG2 TS file with no additional garbage in them. Thanks Eric!
Gstreamer, xine lib & mplayer can all handle transport streams these days.
As a sidenote, I wonder if the new FinalCut supports MicroMV cams, since it’s essentially identical format (to my eye at least) to the few HD cams out there. If this worked, it would be really nifty to be able to edit the streams directly without needing to worry about interframe compression. Not that I’m willing to spend a thousand bucks on it…
